Huge wage bill may hinder Mikel’s Marseilles dream

John Obi Mikel’s escape route from Chelsea may have been temporarily blocked as his suitors, Olympique Marseilles are reluctant are to match his £3.4m-a-year  salary  in Chelsea.
Reports in France indicate that Marseilles manager Rudi Garcia was  desperate to  sign the 29-year-old Super Eagles  midfielder  in January to boost his midfield options but the “the salary of  Mikel  Obi would be problematic.
Chelsea  are set to offload Mikel,  has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League and four FA Cups with  the club, as he is deemed surplus to requirements by Conte. And last week Mikel said he was ready to quit the club  during the January transfer window  for first-team football elsewhere.
Meanwhile, an unnamed Chinese club have reportedly offered Mikel Obi a mammoth 1.3billion naira to pitch his tent with them.
