The Foxes are said to be keen on the 19-year-old Super Eagles midfielder with reports in Belgium stating a £15.5 million bid could be lodged in January.
Genk technical director Dimitri De Conde has admitted Genk may struggle to keep Ndidi if a big offer comes in for the teenager.
“Ndidi and Bailey (team-mate Leon, who is said to be wanted by Manchester United) have indicated that they want to stay until the end of the season,” he said.
