As the Nigeria Football Federation continue efforts to make the Super Eagles very busy before the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers resume August 2017 when the team confronts Cameroon in a double header, president of the body, Amaju Oinnick has confirmed that they are in talks with Ivory Coast over a friendly game before the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
”We have lined up series of friendly games for the Super Eagles, already that of Egypt and Senegal is confirmed , and presently we at an advanced stage with Ivory Coast. The aim is to keep them fit for the upcoming World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Cameroon next year. We need games, for our team to be in top shape for the tie.”
Pinnick also stressed the need to ensure that the team is in competition mood despite the fact that they lead their World Cup qualifying group with six points from the two games played so far.
”We are leading the group but it’s just two games, so we don’t need to be carried away yet. We are leaving no stone unturned in our bid to be at the World Cup 2018 in Russia.”
