The Super Falcons pipped Les Lioness of Cameroon 1-0 to retain the Africa Women Cup Of Nations trophy on Saturday in Yaounde.
The perennial continental queens who were mostly out of sorts in the final match scored the only goal barely ten minutes to the end of the match.
A well drilled goal by Desire Oparanozie was all the Falcons needed to win the competition for the eighth time.
Coached by a former captain of the team,Florence Omagbemi, the Falcons did not concede any goal in open play throughout the AWCON and scored thirteen goals.
Their net was breached just once by the Black Queens of Ghana in a group game match from the penalty spot, in a match that ended one goal apiece.
The next edition of the tournament will hold in Ghana in 2018.
