President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick has pleaded with Nigerians to rally round the body to achieve its panned objectives for Nigerian football.
Speaking on a radio programme on Star FM, Lagos Thursday morning, the football boss apologised for the board’s shortcomings in the outgoing year 2016 and promised to turn things around.
“We have a focus in the NFF and it is to qualify Nigeria for the World Cup in Russia 2018 and do something extraordinary by going beyond the where we have been or any country in Africa and the only way we can do that is to reduce the distractions.
“People should forgive, they should forgive because we are also human and as human beings we ere. They should forgive us and join this team because this (football) is the only thing that keeps us together as a nation.”
The Nigeria football scene has been under intense scrutiny by the media and public over several issues ranging from maladministration, paucity of funds and general decay in recent years.
