Nigeria’s table tennis sensation Aruna Quadri has been ranked 25th in the January rankings of the International Table Tennis Federation.
Quadri was the first African to be ranked in the top 25 in the world when he was ranked in September 2016 after his exploits at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Quadri is scheduled to play in the 2017 ITTF World Tour Hungary Open from January 17 to 22. Bode Abiodun, Ojo Onaolapo, Kazeem Makanjuola and Olajide Omotayo are other players for the tournament.
In the women’s rankings, Egypt’s Dina Meshref remains the continent’s number one player.
She is ranked 108th in the world. Nigeria’s Funke Oshonaike is ranked second in Africa but she dropped a spot from the 209th position she occupied in December to the 210th position.
Edem Offiong also dropped a spot from 211 to 212 with 1875.
